The Importance of Local News
Citizen journalists are increasingly filling a void left by mainstream media, particularly in news deserts or more rural areas that go largely unreported on by major media markets. The Citizen News Bureau’s aim is to fill this void in the local community.
The concerns and interests of citizens in Albany, Binghamton, and the New York City metropolitan area do not necessarily reflect those of Catskills residents. Despite Delaware County’s geographic location inside the triangulation of those three media markets, their content rarely aligns with the interests, concerns, and lifestyles of the local community.
We’re changing that.
The Citizen News Bureau has recurring weekly reports covering weather, sports, news, music, events, town meetings, the arts and other topics that reflect the Catskills Region. All reported by community members like you who are passionate about a subject or have a skill they want to share.
From news to lifestyle, sports, art, and music, CNB reflects your interests. Your concerns. Our content is produced by and for the Catskills community.

The Citizen news Bureau believes that a place is in its people, and aims to utilize citizen journalism in a way that gives our communities not only a sense of place, but of identity.
We want an engaged community and an informed citizenry, and believe that a reliable, representative local news presence is the key.
